Title: Possible Controlled Delivery Scare
Post by: micallef on August 22, 2011, 12:46 pm
I live in the UK and recently ordered something from Holland (mdma 1 gr).

I live in a flat, on the top floor, with a locked communal buzzer entrance.

A few days ago, a motorbike pulled up outside. A gruff looking older man in leather got off the motorbike and rang my buzzer, repeatedly and impatiently. I could see from my window that he was holding a small package.

I had a very, very bad feeling about this, and did not let him in. His behavior was unusual, he was buzzing around all the numbers now as if desperate to get in. Then he started looking in the windows and I think he caught a glimpse of me, so he came back and "buzz buzz buzz buzz". What sort of normal, average joe courier would go to this kind of trouble? He must have buzzed me a total of 30 times. Eventually he gave up.

My question: was it paranoia, or was I right to hide in terror? I should mention at this point that I am not a regular drug user so this wouldn't account for paranoia :)

The delivery I'm expecting was sent via standard post (royal mail), no courier service, and I was expecting no other post or packages. Why was a scary looking guy on a motorbike trying to deliver a package?

I suspect a controlled delivery attempt.

What are your opinions? I could really use some advice!

All orders via SR should appear in your via your Safe Address mailbox.
Never via hand delivery, unless it it an overnight situation, were something came into the Postal Office after your regular post mail has left for deliveries.

Here's a really interesting scenario that I'd like help with. Placed order with a more than reputable yay vendor which was sent express overnight to my roommate's name. The vendor is obviously smart enough to never use signature confirmation, but a USPS redelivery slip was left by the postal worker in my mailbox. First off, why would this happen? My roommate has recently moved to a nearby apartment, but her name is listed in our mailbox. At this point, knowing to never sign, I scheduled a redelivery for today with the USPS redelivery form completed and signed, asking to just leave the package. When I got home, the mail had been delivered but the package had not and the USPS redelivery notification was just lying in the box as if it was untouched. Now I'm not sure what to do. Do I reschedule a second redelivery? Clearly, they just didn't leave it the first time without a physical person to sign. Is the mailman just inept and not aware that the no signature required box was checked? Basically, I'm interested in thoughts on whether to reschedule another delivery attempt, sign and then let her package sit for a few days before opening? Or is this too sketch to bother. Any and all help welcomed to solve this puzzle.

these are some very interesting scenarios,

and truthfully, we need some more knowledgeable input on these types of questions,

most of what I hear about controlled deliveries and mailroom operations is mere hearsay.

I would love for another Q&A with a mailperson, like we had with that one intern...

i've never had that problem with sr but i have had lots of packages that I had to pick up at post office with that slip. no worries....i just sign and walk out with the package. i know its weird because even though you mark no signature, if u live in an apartment complex where mail won't fit into the slot, that is the only way u can get the package. This happens to me all the time with rc's from poland and i have never had a problem.
